Lauren Ray was named all tournament team as libero for Round Rock Shootout

August 17, 2008

Midway finished 5th of 24 in the Round Rock Showcase this weekend. The team played amazing volleyball and is starting to show signs of greatness. Aletra Ware and Amanda Woolley held down the outside, while the defense of Lauren Ray and Sybil Westrup kept Midway in long rallies to outlast the opponents. The trio of sophomores were tossed into the fire, as they gained experience while facing some of the best teams in the state. Elise Ingram and Sarah Groman did a fabulous job delivering the ball and running the offense very efficiently. The weekend included victories over McNeil, SA Churchill 2, Conroe, and Lake Travis. San Antonio Reagan and San Antonio Churchill proved too strong for the Pantherettes as the perennial powerhouses in 5A showed their experience. Lauren Ray was named all tournament team at libero.

The Pantherettes ran into a wall Tuesday night against Keller Central. Midway was unable to get past one of the tallest teams in 5A. The 9th grade team pulled a victory out in 3 games, as did the JV. Great job Pantherettes!!!
