Sends 6 Qualifiers to Regionals

 

          The Panther Tennis Team set a new standard this Spring for qualifying players for the Region II Spring Tournament.  The team also had a record District Tournament in 1st – 3rd place finishes and took both the Men’s and Women’s District Championships.  “This was an unbelievable Spring Tournament for us.  I am so proud of how hard these players worked and what they have accomplished” Coach Simonek.

 

            The Panther Men were led to their District Championship by first place finishes in both Men Singles and Doubles.  Frankie Allinson took first place in the Men’s Singles division.  “Frankie played an unbelievable final.  He defeated Chris Sutton in straight sets, who had previously been undefeated in our district,” Coach Simonek.  Ben McCarter and Chris Fernandez took the Men’s Doubles Championship by defeating Mitch Guerra and Ben Gilbert of Midway in the finals.  “It was awesome to have our own teams in the final…battling it out for first place,” Coach Simonek.

 

            The Pantherettes were led to their District Championship with a first place finish by: Colleen Myers and Elizabeth Allinson in Women’s Doubles.  “Colleen and Elizabeth have always done a fantastic job for us.  They deserved this championship today,” Coach Simonek.  The Pantherettes also took Second Place in Women’s Singles (Saemmul Lee), Third Place in Women’s Doubles (Lindsey Harrell and Cat Luedtke), and Fourth Place in Women’s Singles (Lindsey North).  “These women have worked so hard this year and the results of that were evident at the tournament,” Coach Simonek.

 

            The Panthers and Pantherettes also had success in a new division at the District Tournament, Mixed Doubles.  The team took First Place in the Mixed Doubles Division (Magaly Rivera and Mitchell Myers) and also the Third Place spot (Amanda Alvarado and Ross Natividad).  “We had a great group in the mixed division that was led by three great seniors.  I am going to miss these guys, their work ethic, and commitment,” Coach Simonek.

 

Frankie Allinson Qualifies for

Region II Semifinals

 

The Panther Tennis Team had a successful Region II Tournament and were led by the Semifinal finish of Frankie Allinson.  “Frankie finished out a great Freshman year with a very solid Spring Regional.  With strong commitment and dedication he has a bright future to come,” Coach Simonek.  

The Panther Team also had very strong tournaments by the other qualifiers and had Saemmul Lee (Women’s Singles) and Mitch Guerra/Ben Gilbert (Men’s Doubles) make the Regional Quarterfinals.  “These three players are examples the results you get from playing to win everyday, whether at practice or in a match.  They have become great leaders both on and off the courts,” Coach Simonek.
