Panthers move to 2-0 in District

with a 17-2 Win over the Eagles

 

        The Panthers continued their success in district with a 17-2 victory over the Killeen Ellison Eagles.  "It was great to watch the players focus and determination in each and every match today.  They were very determined to take every single match possible," Coach Simonek. 

        The Panthers started the match with a dominating performance in doubles play.  The Panthers took six out of seven doubles matches.  "We did a great job on working alternative formations today and finishing off matches," Coach Simonek.  Leading the way for the panthers in doubles was the tandem of North/Guerra.  The Mixed-doubles tandem defeated the Eagles 6-1, 6-3.  "Mitch and Lindsey have just started playing together a couple of matches back, but they are starting to develop a very solid chemistry together," Coach Simonek.  Also winning doubles matches for the Panthers were: Frankie Allinson/Mitchell Myers, McCarter/Fernandez, Rochelle/Natividad, Rivera/Harrell, and Alvarado/Luedtke.

        The Panthers continued their domination into singles match play.  The Panthers took eleven of twelve matches.  "This was one of our best performance from start to finish.  Players played at a high level regardless of the score," Coach Simonek.  Leading the way for the Panthers in singles was Frankie Allinson.  "Frankie played a great match against Boyer of Ellison.  He took control and stepped up to finish the match off in a dominating manner," Coach Simonek.  Also winning matches for the Panthers were: Ben McCarter, Ross Natividad, Chris Fernandez, Mitchell Myers, and Dustin Rochelle.

        The Pantherettes were led by Colleen Myers in singles play.  "Colleen is really stepping up and starting to believe in her game.  She is doing a fantastic job in singles this year and continues to work to make improvements," Coach Simonek.  Also winning matches for the Pantherettes were: Amanda Alvarado, Elizabeth Allinson, Lindsey Harrell, and Cat Luedtke.

        The Pantherettes head into the weekend undefeated in district play.  This sets up a huge match against the undefeated Brownwood Lions.  "It will be a great match.  They have a lot of pride in their team and a very experienced team.  I know our players will work extremely hard this week and be prepared to meet the challenge," Coach Simonek.
